Heads: Stock Ford Iron GT-40p rebuilt with new Trick Flow valve spring set to accommodate the Trick Flow cam below. This stock head has 5/16” tapped holes for stock pedestal mount rockers. Cam: Trick Flow, TFS-51403001. WebDec 27, 2004 · Thats why ultimately i think the ported GT40P's and ported GT40/Cobra intake along with the SC at 10psi should give me the power reliably. but for now 300HP on a fresh (read fresh/rebuilt) 347 engine would be "enough" to get me into the 12s untill i get the SC, then its 10s.

I also have a set of freshly ported gt40ps with performance springs and stock valves and stock rockers. I run a h,c,I car on stock injectors and throttle body. I run a 255lph fuel pump and adjustable fuel regulator and never had a problem at all. Their ratings are at 80% load, those heads have similar rating stock for stock with the gt40 series flow a tad more.

A word of caution though: just behind the valve guide and in front of the thermactor divot is a water jacket, so be careful in this area. Starting with the outboard side of the throat, as with the intake, the throat. WebMay 16, 2010 · 1) Find a set of iron GT40P heads used online OR from a junk explorer motor at a Pick-A-Part yard. The later 97 and up Explorers had GT40P heads. Just make sure they have the GTP on the front of the head. $200 max(I have seen them cheaper). 2) You'll need special headers for those heads, I have seen them used for around $180.

Anyways, I know the gt40ps will … WebMar 7, 2011 · Your current head have a 63 cc chamber and give you 8.7 to 1 comp ratio. 60 cc head would put you at about 9.1 to 1. Gt40p have 60cc chamber but the spark plug pointing almost at 90 degree out witch cause problem to fit headers. If you are going to spend money on a set of head go with some aluminum head 170cc to 190 cc intake runner.

I'm not sure about when they started with GT40s on the Explorer (probably since the first V8 model?), but they went to GT40Ps in mid '97.
